How to Create Spam Filters in DirectAdmin #

DirectAdmin’s Spam Filters tool lets you manually block unwanted email by sender, domain, keyword, or size. This works well for specific known senders, but it won’t catch new or unknown spam sources on its own.

For broader spam protection, ask us about enabling SpamAssassin on your account — it automatically scores incoming email and can catch the majority of spam without manual block lists.

How to Configure a Spam Filter #

With this DirectAdmin tool, you can filter emails. You will probably want to filter out unwanted SPAM emails. This tool will help you configure email filters.

How to configure an email filter in DirectAdmin:

  1. Log in to your DirectAdmin control panel by accessing https://yourdomain:2222
  2. Click on SPAM Filters (under E-mail manager)
  3. You can configure some blocks here:
    – Block a specific e-mail address: ____ Click the Block button to apply.
    – Block mail from an entire domain: ____ Click the Block button to apply.
    – Block all e-mail containing the word: ____ Click the Block button to apply.
    – Block all e-mail larger than: ____ KB Click the Block button to apply.
  4. There is also an Adult Filter option. Click the Enable button to enable it.
  5. Choose an action if the filter matches one of your conditions: drop the email or send it to the spam box. Click the Save button to confirm

Tip: Sending matched mail to the spam box (rather than dropping it) is safer while you’re still tuning your filters — you can review what gets caught before deleting anything permanently.
