How to Set Up Email in Outlook #

We offer both secure and non-secure methods of connecting to our email server. The secure method protects your password from being intercepted (by using an SSL certificate)

Outlook 2016-2019

Secure Method #

  1. Launch Outlook
  2. Click on File
  3. Click the Account Settings button > Account Settings
  4. Click on New
  5. Enter the email address – Your email account username (user@domain.com)
  6. Click on Advanced Options
  7. Check Let me set up my account manually
  8. Click Connect
  9. Click IMAP or POP3
    1. INCOMING MAIL SERVER:
      • Host Name: dixie.simplywebservices.net (this is our secure email server)
      • User Name: Your email account’s username (ex: user@domain.com)
      • Password: Your email account’s password
      • Port: IMAP = 993  / POP3 = 995
      • Click SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    2. OUTGOING MAIL SERVER:
      • Host Name: dixie.simplywebservices.net (this is our secure email server)
      • User Name: Your email account’s username (ex: user@domain.com)
      • Password: Your email account’s password
      • SMTP Port: 465
      • Click SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
      • Check – This server requires authentication
  10. Click Next
  11. Enter password
  12. Uncheck Set up Outlook Mobile on my phone, too
  13. Click Done
  14. Double-click the new account
  15. Enter Your Name and adjust other settings
  16. Click Next
  17. Click Done

Unsecure Method #

  1. Launch Outlook
  2. Click on File
  3. Click the Account Settings button > Account Settings
  4. Click on New
  5. Enter the email address – Your email account’s username (user@domain.com)
  6. Click on Advanced Options
  7. Check Let me set up my account manually
  8. Click Connect
  9. Click IMAP or POP3
    1. INCOMING MAIL SERVER:
      • Host Name: mail.domain.com
      • User Name: Your email account’s username (ex: user@domain.com)
      • Password: Your email account’s password
      • Port: IMAP = 143/ POP3 = 110
      • Click SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    2. OUTGOING MAIL SERVER:
      • Host Name: mail.domain.com
      • User Name: Your email account’s username (ex: user@domain.com)
      • Password: Your email account’s password
      • SMTP Port: 25 or 587 (if outgoing mail fails, try port 587)
      • Click SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
      • Check – This server requires authentication
  10. Click Next
  11. Enter password
  12. Uncheck Set up Outlook Mobile on my phone, too
  13. Click Done
  14. Double-click the new account
  15. Enter Your Name and adjust other settings
  16. Click Next
  17. Click Done

POP3 downloads email from a server to a single computer, then deletes it from the server. On the other hand, IMAP stores the message on a server and synchronizes the message across multiple devices.

Our servers do not support using the secure method and your domain name; you must use dixie.simplywebservices.net
