How to backup your website in DirectAdmin

You should backup your site from time to time. Also, it’s a good idea to download these backup copies to your computer

To backup your account in DirectAdmin:

  1. Login toDirectAdminat http://yourdomain.com:2222
  2. Look forCreate/Restore Backupsoption (underAdvanced Features)
  3. Selectthe things you want to include in the backup (like email accounts, email data etc)
  4. Click theCreate Backupbutton. You will see a message Backup creation added to queue. You will receive a message via the DirectAdmin Message System when the backup creation is done with the subject Your backups are now ready
  5. You will also see the backup archive in the /backups/ directory of your domain. (example: backup-Jun-18-2017-1.tar.gz)

To restore a backup archive of your account in DirectAdmin:

  1. Log in toDirectAdminat http://yourdomain.com:2222
  2. Look forCreate/Restore Backupsoption (underAdvanced Features)
  3. ClickRestore Backupbutton (upper right corner)
  4. Select a backup archive from the drop-down list
  5. Click the SelectRestorebutton
  6. Select the things you want to restore (like email accounts, email data etc)
  7. Click theRestorebutton. When done you will see a confirmation message:Restore Complete

Items that are available to backup/restore:

Website Data

  • Domains Directory: Backs up all user files for all domains
  • Subdomain Lists: Backs up the list of subdomains for each domain

E-Mail

  • E-Mail Accounts List for all domains (names and passwords)
  • E-Mail Data: Includes the messages from the Inbox, IMAP Folders, and webmail data
  • E-Mail Settings: Includes the filters and the catchall address
  • Forwarders: Includes all forwarding addresses
  • Autoresponders: Includes all autoresponders and messages
  • Vacation Messages: Includes all vacation messages and times
  • Mailing Lists: Includes the list, digest-list and archives

FTP

  • FTP Accounts
  • FTP Settings

Databases

  • Database Settings: Backs up all DB Users and DB Settings
  • Database Data: If ‘Databases’ is selected, include the actual DB data
