How to configure Mail on a Mac (Outlook 2016)

We offer both secure and non-secure methods of connecting to our email server. The secure method protects your password from being intercepted (by using a SSL certificate)

Secure Method

1. Open Outlook 2016 from your Launchpad
2. Tap on Add Account
3. Click on Other Email
4. Enter in account information
   1. Email Address: Your email accounts username (user@domain.com)
   2. Password: Your email accounts password
   3. User Name: Enter your email address again
   4. Type: Click the drop-down menu and select IMAP or POP
   5. Mail Servers: dixie.simplywebservices.net (this is our secure email server)
   6. SSL: Check the Use SSL to Connect boxes for the Incoming Server and Outgoing Server
5. Click Add Account

INCOMING MAIL SERVER:

• • • Mail Servers: dixie.simplywebservices.net (this is our secure email server)
    • Port: IMAP = 993  / POP3 = 995

OUTGOING MAIL SERVER:

1. • • Mail Servers: dixie.simplywebservices.net (this is our secure email server)
     • SMTP Port: 465
     • Check My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication

Unsecure Method

1. 1. Open Outlook 2016 from your Launchpad
   2. Tap on Add Account
   3. Click on Other Email
   4. Enter in account information
      1. Email Address: Your email accounts username (user@domain.com)
      2. Password: Your email accounts password
      3. User Name: Enter your email address again
      4. Type: Click the drop-down menu and select IMAP or POP
      5. Mail Servers: dixie.simplywebservices.net (this is our secure email server)
   5. Click Add Account

   INCOMING MAIL SERVER:

   • • • Mail Servers: mail.domain.com
       • Port: IMAP = 143 / POP3 = 110

   OUTGOING MAIL SERVER:

   1. • • Mail Servers: mail.domain.com
        • SMTP Port: 25 or 587
        • Check My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication

POP3 downloads the email from a server to a single computer, then deletes the email from the server. On the other hand, IMAP stores the message on a server and synchronizes the message across multiple devices.

Our servers do not support using the secure method and using your domain name, you must use dixie.simplywebservices.net
