We offer both secure and non-secure methods of connecting to our email server. The secure method protects your password from being intercepted (by using a SSL certificate)
As Android no longers has a default email app, these instructions are going to apply to all email apps, however the process of launching and getting to the settings will vary.
Secure Method
- Launch your email app
- Tap on Settings
- Tap on Add account
- Name: Your user’s first and last name
- Email: Your email accounts username (user@domain.com)
- Password: Your email accounts password
- Description: A brief description of this account
- Select IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) or POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3)
- INCOMING MAIL SERVER:
- Host Name: dixie.simplywebservices.net (this is our secure email server)
- User Name: Your email accounts username (ex: user@domain.com)
- Password: Your email accounts password
- Port: IMAP = 993 / POP3 = 995
- Tap SSL/TLS (Accept all certificate)
- OUTGOING MAIL SERVER:
- Host Name: dixie.simplywebservices.net (this is our secure email server)
- User Name: Your email accounts username (ex: user@domain.com)
- Password: Your email accounts password
- SMTP Port: 465
- Tap SSL/TLS (Accept all certificate)
- Check – Require authenication to send emails
- Complete the rest of the setup (varies from app to app)
- INCOMING MAIL SERVER:
Unsecure Method
- Launch your email app
- Tap on Settings
- Tap on Add account
- Name: Your user’s first and last name
- Email: Your email accounts username (user@domain.com)
- Password: Your email accounts password
- Description: A brief description of this account
- Select IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) or POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3)
- INCOMING MAIL SERVER:
- Host Name: mail.domain.com
- User Name: Your email accounts username (ex: user@domain.com)
- Password: Your email accounts password
- Port: IMAP = 143/ POP3 = 110
- OUTGOING MAIL SERVER:
- Host Name: mail.domain.com
- User Name: Your email accounts username (ex: user@domain.com)
- Password: Your email accounts password
- SMTP Port: 25 or 587 (if outgoing mail fails, try port 587)
- Check – Require authenication to send emails
- Complete the rest of the setup (varies from app to app)
- INCOMING MAIL SERVER:
POP3 downloads the email from a server to a single computer, then deletes the email from the server. On the other hand, IMAP stores the message on a server and synchronizes the message across multiple devices.
Our servers do not support using the secure method and using your domain name, you must use dixie.simplywebservices.net
