Simply Web Services uses multi processor / multi core Intel Xeon servers (running at 3.30Ghz) for all Linux server web hosting services.
All of our Linux servers share common characteristics. All have over 1Tb of storage capacity, operate on 8 Gigabytes of RAM. Each server has dual 1000 NIC cards.
Our servers are backed up nightly using a combination of tape and “live” redundant drives. In the event of loss of power, our servers are configured to automatically switch to backup UPS. After a set time, generators takes over, powering the entire operation as long as needed. Not only are we able to rely on the professional staff at the NOC to assist in managing our servers and any networking problems that may happen, but our on staff webmaster and network administrator is local and has over 15 years experience in both designing web sites and managing UNIX and NT enterprise networks and web servers. We cannot insure you that our servers will never be down, since that is not a realistic goal. Every piece of computer and network equipment will need to be upgraded, repaired and/or rebooted from time to time. No amount of redundancy can ever ensure 100% uptime. We do however do everything we can to maintain a 99.5% uptime.
