Domain names are an easy way to remember where a website is. If we did not use domain names, then we would have to use numbers. Each computer on the internet is assigned an address; this address, known as an IP address, is unique to that computer during that connection to the internet. Remembering www.name.com is easier than remembering 192.55.183.10. A URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is really nothing more than the domain name or location of the website. http://www.tomshardware.com would be a URL. It’s much like your house address: 123 There Street is easier to find than lot 314, plot 12, zone D.
Why domain names and what is a URL then?
