How to Create a Mailing List in DirectAdmin #
DirectAdmin includes a built-in mailing list tool (powered by Majordomo) for sending messages to a group of subscribers — useful for internal team lists, announcement groups, or discussion lists.
Note: This is a basic listserv tool for group email distribution, not a marketing/newsletter platform. If you need templates, unsubscribe compliance, and delivery analytics for customer email campaigns, a dedicated email marketing service (like Mailchimp or Constant Contact) is a better fit.
How to Create a Mailing List #
To create mailing lists, you need to scroll down on the DirectAdmin page.
- Log in to your DirectAdmin control panel by accessing https://yourdomain:2222
- Click on Mailing Lists (under E-Mail Manager)
- Click on the Create Mailing Lists button
- Enter the name of the new mailing list
- Click the Create button
- Once the list has been created, click on the Pencil icon (far right side)
- Configure the list to fit your needs:
- Who can post — restrict posting to admins only, or allow any subscribed member to send messages.
- Subscribe/unsubscribe permissions — control whether members can join or leave the list themselves
- Digest mode — send messages individually as they arrive, or batch them into a periodic digest email.
