The new server setup has a new way of doing email. We are now using an outgoing email service that monitors all outgoing email for policy and SPAM. This is designed to stop or slow the spread of SPAM.

Think of it as reputation management for outgoing email. Historically when you sent an email, it was usually routed through your ISP. The problem with that is SPAMMERs were able to spoof emails, making them look like you sent them. The new way is that all email is routed through these services (they are a premium, but we feel that they will be worth the cost).

This service will take all outgoing email and manage it, taking care of whitelists, blacklists, SPAM, and malware.

They also handle throttling the flow of outgoing emails, so you don’t get blocked for sending too many emails at once.

As we quickly found out, a service like this is a must for a new server with no reputation for sending emails.
