Copywriting is just that: writing the content or copy for a website, article, post, magazine… Copywriting is the act or occupation of writing text for the purpose of advertising or other forms of marketing. In addition, that means that a copywriter writes copy, or the content that is used to help people decide what product or service to buy or select. The majority of copywriting involves writing for advertising or marketing purposes.
This could include direct mail solicitations, advertising jingles and scripts, online and print advertisements, website content, and other forms of marketing communications. A copywriter must not only have a good grasp of the written language but must also be creative and have a firm understanding of the product or service that they are writing for.
In our business model, we would either have our copywriter write the copy for your products or help you write it for your e-commerce website. There is actually an art to this, and it is not as simple as writing some words about the item.
As an example, we are going to sell some hand lotion. We will be selling Mrs. Meyer’s Hand Lotions.
The client might write something like:
12-ounce bottle of Non-Greasy Moisturizing Land Lotion. Includes Almond oil and shea butter.
Now that is something that we would normally receive from a client, along with a single small photo. Sadly, many of our clients fail to understand the importance of a good photo. I can’t tell you how many times we have been sent a thumbnail and asked to turn it into a main page slider.
We often ask our clients for larger photos; 3-6 photos are best. Then we would hopefully be able to see the physical product for ourselves. Then we would describe it so that the potential buyer would be interested in this product.

Then we would use the larger photos so they can be zoomed in on when someone clicks them. Nothing is worse than clicking a photo to enlarge it, only for it to do nothing or get smaller.
