This website is a fan website for the Scottish pop band “The Big Dish“. The Big Dish is a Scottish pop band formed in Airdrie, Scotland, in 1983. The band initially comprised Steven Lindsay (vocals/guitar), David Brownlie (drums), Stuart Hall (saxophone), Mark Ryce (guitar), and John Harper (keyboards).
Project Overview
Glenn came to us in 2009 to design a website for his favorite band, “The Big Dish”. We are currently on the fifth unique version of the website that we have designed for Glenn over the years. Glenn is one of the few clients who firmly believe in keeping his website up to date and fresh, and we love that idea as well. Over the years, it has become the band’s official website, and we are honored to design and host it. And for those that are curious, “Braw” is a Scottish slang for “excellent”.
Challenges
The biggest challenge is coming up with something new and different for each redesign of this website. This is version five of the website project. Plus, Glenn is always adding new features to the website and often has a clear vision for how he wants the site to look. Our job is to extract that vision and make it a reality.
Solutions
The most recent versions of the website are built on WordPress and feature an image gallery; older versions featured a message forum, which has since been abandoned.
Audio Ripping & Converting to MP3
We ripped music and interviews from the provided optical media, cleaned them up, edited them as required by the client, converted them to MP3, and uploaded them to the website.
Video Editing and YouTube Channel Management
We created opening splash screens for videos to be included on the YouTube channel. We also created splash screens for some of the music videos uploaded to YouTube.
