# How to configure Android email

We offer both secure and non-secure methods of connecting to our email server. The secure method protects your password from being intercepted (by using an SSL certificate)

As Android no longer has a default email app, these instructions apply to all email apps; however, the process for launching and accessing settings will vary.

## **Secure Method**

1. Launch your email app
2. Tap on Settings
3. Tap on Add account
   1. **Name**: Your user’s first and last name
   2. **Email**: Your email account's username (user@domain.com)
   3. **Password**: Your email account's password
   4. **Description**: A brief description of this account
4. Select **IMAP** (Internet Message Access Protocol)  or **POP3** (Post Office Protocol 3)
   1. **INCOMING MAIL SERVER:**
      - **Host Name**: dixie.simplywebservices.net (this is our secure email server)
      - **User Name**: Your email account's username (ex: user@domain.com)
      - **Password**: Your email account's password
      - **Port:** IMAP = 993  / POP3 = 995
      - Tap **SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)**
   2. **OUTGOING MAIL SERVER:**
      - **Host Name**: dixie.simplywebservices.net (this is our secure email server)
      - **User Name**: Your email account's username (ex: user@domain.com)
      - **Password**: Your email account's password
      - **SMTP Port**: 465
      - Tap **SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)**
      - Check - **Require authentication to send emails**
   3. Complete the rest of the setup (varies from app to app)

**Unsecure Method**

1. Launch your email app
2. Tap on Settings
3. Tap on Add account
   1. **Name**: Your user’s first and last name
   2. **Email**: Your email account's username (user@domain.com)
   3. **Password**: Your email account's password
   4. **Description**: A brief description of this account
4. Select **IMAP** (Internet Message Access Protocol)  or **POP3** (Post Office Protocol 3)
   1. **INCOMING MAIL SERVER:**
      - **Host Name**: mail.domain.com
      - **User Name**: Your email account's username (ex: user@domain.com)
      - **Password**: Your email account's password
      - **Port:** IMAP = 143/ POP3 = 110
   2. **OUTGOING MAIL SERVER:**
      - **Host Name**: mail.domain.com
      - **User Name**: Your email account's username (ex: user@domain.com)
      - **Password**: Your email account's password
      - **SMTP Port**: 25 or 587 (if outgoing mail fails, try port 587)
      - Check - Requires authentication** to send emails**
   3. Complete the rest of the setup (varies from app to app)

POP3 downloads email from a server to a single computer, then deletes it from the server. On the other hand, IMAP stores messages on a server and synchronizes them across multiple devices.

Our servers do not support using a secure method and your domain name; you must use dixie.simplywebservices.net
